This bill phases out the professional privilege tax over a four-year period for tax years beginning on and after June 1, 2019. The professional privilege tax, which is a $400 annual tax paid by certain licensed professionals in Tennessee, will be gradually reduced to $300, $200, $100, and then eliminated entirely for tax years ending on or after May 31, 2023. The bill also clarifies that professionals licensed or registered for multiple taxed professions are only required to pay the tax once per year.
