This bill amends the insurance law in New York to change the distribution of the foreign and alien fire insurance premium tax. Beginning on the effective date of the bill, the amount received from this tax will be distributed to fire companies in proportion to the number of active members within each company. The term "active member" is defined as a member who participates in firefighting and is subject to call for duties assigned under the rules and regulations of the fire department or company. This change in distribution replaces the previous method of distributing the funds to fire companies constituting the fire department.
