This bill adds new sections to existing Idaho law to provide immunity from civil liability and criminal prosecution for first responders who provide certain aid to a dog or cat. Specifically, it grants immunity to first responders, including emergency medical services providers, firefighters, peace officers, and others designated by law enforcement, who enter a motor vehicle to remove a dog or cat that they reasonably believe is in imminent danger of suffering death or serious bodily harm, as long as they use no more force than necessary. The bill also specifies that this immunity does not extend to physical harm caused to the animal or other unrelated criminal actions.
