This bill amends the New York Penal Law to modify the offense of "aggravated assault upon a police officer or a peace officer." It creates two new provisions: (1) intending to cause serious physical injury to a police officer or peace officer engaged in official duties and causing such injury with a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument; and (2) intending to cause physical injury to a police officer or peace officer engaged in official duties, when aided by two or more others in a public place, and causing physical injury to the officer. The bill defines these actions as a class B felony.
