This bill amends Title 23 (Domestic Relations) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to provide a definition of "electronic monitoring device" and to allow courts to require defendants in protection from abuse cases to wear such a device if the defendant is found to present a substantial risk of violating the final protection order or committing a crime against the victim. The electronic monitoring device must actively and continuously monitor the defendant's location within a 100-mile radius, allow law enforcement to receive and retain the location data indefinitely, and be designed to alert authorities if the device is removed. The court can only order the device to be removed before the expiration of the final protection order for good cause shown.
