This bill amends the Occupations Code to regulate the practice of physical therapy in Texas. It allows physical therapists who have been licensed for at least one year and meet certain educational or continuing competence requirements to treat patients without a referral, subject to limits on the duration of treatment. The bill also requires physical therapists to obtain professional liability insurance and have patients sign a disclosure form when treating without a referral. Additionally, the bill authorizes the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners to take disciplinary action against physical therapists who provide care outside the scope of their practice.
