This bill amends the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to further provide for alimony. Specifically, it states that a party who has been convicted of committing a personal injury crime against the other party shall not be awarded alimony, except where the court finds that an order awarding alimony is necessary to prevent manifest injustice. The bill also clarifies that the marital misconduct of either party from the date of final separation shall not be considered by the court in its determinations relative to alimony, except for the abuse of one party by the other party, as defined in the law. The bill takes effect 60 days after enactment.
