Bill Summary
An Act amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, in charter schools, providing for full-time cyber education program offered by school district.
AI Summary
This bill amends the Public School Code of 1949 to provide for a full-time cyber education program offered by a school district. If a student enrolls in the district's cyber education program, the student's enrollment is subject to no tuition or fees other than those the district generally imposes on its students. If the student chooses to enroll in a cyber charter school instead, the student or their parent/guardian is responsible for paying the cyber charter school a per-student amount. The bill defines a "full-time cyber education program" as a complete course of study offered by a district that uses technology to provide a significant portion of its curriculum and instruction through the internet or other electronic means, and is not a cyber charter school. The bill takes effect in 60 days.
