This bill amends the Public Utilities Act to require an electric utility that serves more than 3 million customers in Illinois to fund the construction of 5 employment training centers in specific locations: the west side of Chicago, Ford Heights, Waukegan, Bloomington, and Peoria. The utility must also continue to fund existing programs, including a solar training pipeline program, a craft apprenticeship program, and various multicultural job programs. The goal of these programs is to provide job training opportunities, particularly for individuals who are or were foster children or have a criminal record, with the aim of creating 2,000 jobs for these individuals.
