This bill establishes an "amateur sports account" in the special revenue fund, consisting of sales tax revenue derived from sales and purchases made at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minnesota. The money in the account, including interest, is appropriated to the Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission for the promotion and development of amateur sports. This provision is effective July 1, 2019. Additionally, the bill amends existing law to specify that the sales tax revenues deposited into this new amateur sports account will not be included in the revenues deposited into other existing funds, such as the general fund or transportation-related funds.
