This bill amends the Health and Safety Code to prohibit assisted living facilities in Texas from employing applicants who fail to indicate in a written statement that they have not been convicted of certain criminal offenses. The bill also requires assisted living facilities to conduct criminal history checks in each state where an applicant has previously resided during the five years prior to the application. The new provisions apply to applications submitted on or after September 1, 2019, when the bill takes effect.
