This bill establishes the Cromwell Wright fire protection district, which will provide fire protection services throughout its territory. The district will be governed by a board composed of one member appointed by the city council or town board of each city and town in the district. The district can impose a property tax on real property within the district to cover its operating expenses and debt. Cities or towns that join the district cannot incur expenses or debt for fire protection services within the district's territory or impose taxes for that purpose. A city or town can withdraw from the district after providing two years' notice, but its territory will remain subject to taxation for any debt incurred prior to withdrawal.
