This bill amends the existing law to provide additional protection from child enticement. The key provisions are: (1) it prohibits any person, without privilege, from knowingly enticing a child under 16 into a vehicle without the express or implied permission of the child's parent, guardian, or legal custodian, unless the person is a law enforcement officer, emergency service provider, or someone who regularly provides activities for children; (2) it establishes an affirmative defense if the person acted in response to a bona fide emergency or to preserve the child's health, safety, or welfare; and (3) it imposes a prison sentence of up to 5 years or a house of correction sentence of up to 2.5 years, and a fine of up to $5,000, for violations.
