Bill Summary

Relative to contracts for continuing care retirement communities. Elder Affairs.

AI Summary

This bill amends Section 76 of Chapter 93 of the General Laws to require continuing care retirement community providers to give every prospective resident a separate document that clearly states the amount of the entrance fee that will be refunded to the resident under the provider's contract, as well as the terms, conditions, and explanation of the process by which the provider will make such refund to the resident after the resident leaves the facility or dies. The resident must sign this statement prior to paying the full entrance fee to the provider, but this requirement does not apply to any fee paid to get on a waiting list for a continuing care retirement community.
