Bill Summary
Relative to call and volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians. Public Service.
AI Summary
This bill amends existing laws to provide that if an incapacitated firefighter or emergency medical personnel (EMT) is a call, volunteer, reserve, or auxiliary firefighter or EMT, the amount payable by the city, town, or district shall be equal to the annual entry-level income for all occupations in the Commonwealth on the date of the incapacity, as determined by the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. This change is intended to ensure that call, volunteer, reserve, and auxiliary firefighters and EMTs receive the same level of compensation as their full-time counterparts when they are incapacitated in the line of duty.
