Bill Summary
Relative to the dispensing of prescription drugs by pharmacists. Public Health.
AI Summary
This bill amends Chapter 94C, Section 23 of the General Laws in Massachusetts to allow pharmacists to dispense a 90-day supply for certain prescribed drugs in Schedule VI when the initial prescription was for 30 days with refills and the practitioner did not indicate that a 30-day supply is medically necessary. The bill also allows pharmacists to dispense less than a 30-day supply for prescriptions with authorized refills if it is in the best interest of the patient and the patient requests or agrees to synchronize the filling of their medications. The Department of Public Health is required to promulgate rules and regulations to implement these provisions in consultation with the Board of Registration in Pharmacy.
