This bill provides for an alternative method of examining competency (AMEC) to grant provisional social worker licenses. Under the AMEC, applicants who have taken the licensed certified social worker exam at least twice and failed within 15 points can be granted a provisional license valid for up to one year. During the provisional period, the licensee must complete professional development, supervisory, and educational requirements. Upon completion, the licensee will be exempt from the regular licensing requirements and granted a full license. The licensee must maintain a professional portfolio with various documents, including papers on core social work practice areas, a case analysis, self-evaluation, supervisor evaluations, and an affidavit attesting to the licensee's readiness to practice as a professional social worker.
