This bill establishes a prepaid wireless E911 surcharge, which is a fee added to the cost of prepaid wireless services to support the state's emergency 911 system. The bill requires sellers of prepaid wireless services to collect the surcharge from consumers at the point of sale and remit it to the state Department of Revenue. The Department of Revenue is required to promulgate regulations within 60 days of the effective date of the act to govern the reporting and remittance of the collected surcharges, as well as enforcement of these obligations. The regulations promulgated under this bill will take effect on July 1, 2019.
