Bill Summary

Relative to creating a rebuttable presumption of job relatedness for certain public safety personnel suffering from disabling conditions caused by exposure to infectious diseases. Public Service.

AI Summary

This bill establishes a rebuttable presumption that certain contagious diseases resulting in disability or death for full-time uniformed members of paid police, fire, or municipal emergency medical services were suffered in the line of duty, provided that the individual passed a physical examination on entry into service and the condition is a type of contagious disease that may result from exposure to blood and other body fluids, excluding the common cold. The presumption does not apply to individuals who have served for fewer than five years, and the bill also applies to conditions such as Hepatitis A, B, or C, Tuberculosis, HIV, and any other contagious disease found to have a statistically significant correlation with police, fire, or emergency medical service.
