This bill amends Chapter 90B of the Massachusetts General Laws to provide exemptions from vehicle registration requirements for certain recreation vehicles used in sanctioned races, rallies, or events. The bill defines "recreation vehicle" or "off-highway vehicle" to include all-terrain vehicles, off-highway motorcycles, dirt bikes, and recreation utility vehicles, as long as they are not being operated on public roads. The bill exempts participants of sanctioned races, rallies, or events from the registration requirements of Chapter 90B, as long as the event is sanctioned by a bona fide state, regional, national, or international sanctioning body. Additionally, any motor vehicle legally registered under Chapter 90 will not be subject to dual registration under Chapter 90B, but the registration numbers must still be displayed as required.
