Bill Summary

Relative to nursing home admissions for individuals from birth to age twenty-two in need of long-term inpatient skilled nursing and rehabilitation services. Public Health.

AI Summary

This bill amends Chapter 111 of the General Laws to require individuals from birth to age 22 who need long-term inpatient skilled nursing and rehabilitation services to apply for certification of eligibility from the Department's Multi-Disciplinary Medical Review Team prior to being admitted to a nursing home. However, individuals from birth to age 22 who need short-term inpatient skilled nursing and rehabilitation services (up to one year) can be admitted to a nursing home upon referral from their primary care physician or hospital discharge team, without requiring certification from the Medical Review Team. The bill also amends Chapter 118E to reflect these changes.
