This bill amends Massachusetts state law to allow manufacturers and distributors of flashing, rotating, or oscillating red or blue lights used by fire apparatus, ambulances, and law enforcement vehicles to display such lights on their own vehicles for sales demonstrations, subject to certain restrictions. The bill requires the manufacturer or distributor to obtain a permit from the registrar, demonstrate the lights only in specific locations approved by the local police chief, and have a sworn police officer or other authorized emergency response personnel present during the demonstration. The registrar is also granted the authority to promulgate rules and regulations to implement these new provisions.
