This bill aims to protect the privacy of children in eviction proceedings. It proposes to amend the General Laws by inserting a new paragraph that would prohibit the defendant named in a summary process summons and complaint from including any household member who is a minor or an adult who has not signed a tenancy agreement and is not responsible for the payment of rent. The names of these household members would be expunged from any court record and electronic docket entry. The bill also clarifies that it does not affect the right of an occupant to seek to intervene in a summary process action or the right of the original parties to the action to move to join additional parties for good cause shown.
