This bill amends Section 2 of Chapter 90 of the general laws to require the registrar to furnish distinctive registration plates bearing the image of a Purple Heart Medal for any private passenger motor vehicle or motorcycle owned by a veteran who has been awarded the Order of the Purple Heart. The first set of such plates must be provided at no charge, with the registrar able to charge the established registration fee for any additional sets. The surviving spouse of a deceased Purple Heart recipient may also elect to retain such plates for personal use upon payment of the established registration fee and an additional annual $20 fee, until the spouse remarries or fails to renew or cancels the registration.
