This bill amends Title 27 (Environmental Resources) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to provide lead abatement assistance. It establishes the Lead Abatement Grant Program, which will issue grants to municipalities to assist owners of single-family homes and rental housing with lead hazard control work. The bill also creates the Lead Abatement Assistance Fund, which will be funded by a 50-cent surcharge on each gallon of architectural paint sold to consumers. The Department of Environmental Protection will administer the grant program and establish rules and guidelines to carry out the provisions of the new chapter.
