This bill aims to improve safety at public and semipublic athletic recreation facilities in Massachusetts. It requires these facilities to post a written medical emergency response plan, practice the response sequence with employees annually, and review the plan with local fire and police officials at least once a year. The plan must include communication protocols, emergency service response times, contact information, and the location and use of any automated external defibrillators. Facilities are also required to have a working landline telephone as part of the rapid communication system. Owners or managers who fail to comply will be subject to a fine of up to $1,000. The provisions apply to facilities constructed on or after the effective date of the bill, as well as existing facilities one year after the effective date.
