This bill amends the Texas Tax Code to allow certain municipalities with populations of 1,500 or less and located in counties bordering Arkansas and Louisiana to use municipal hotel occupancy tax revenue for the promotion of tourism by enhancing and upgrading existing sports facilities or fields. It also expands the list of municipalities that can use the hotel occupancy tax revenue for certain purposes, including municipalities with populations up to 25,000 that contain a cultural heritage museum and are located in a county bordering Mexico and the Gulf of Mexico. The bill takes effect on September 1, 2019.
