Bill Summary
Relative to property tax exemptions for certain disabled veterans. Revenue.
AI Summary
This bill expands the property tax exemption for qualified veterans. Specifically, it allows for a full exemption on the real estate of veterans who have suffered permanent and total disability in the line of duty, and have received assistance in acquiring "specially adapted housing" from the Veterans Administration. The exemption would continue to benefit the surviving spouse of the disabled veteran. Two thousand dollars of the exemption is to be borne by the city or town, while the remaining balance is to be reimbursed by the state. The provisions of the bill would apply to tax years beginning on or after July 1, 2020.
