This bill makes several changes to Massachusetts law regarding licensed marijuana social consumption establishments. First, it amends the state's cannabis law to specify that no local voter initiative is required if the sale of marijuana and marijuana products for consumption on the premises is authorized by local law. Second, it changes the language in the law from requiring that a locality "has voted to allow consumption on the premises where sold" to simply allowing consumption on the premises where sold unless the locality "does not forbid" it. Finally, it adds a new definition of "licensed marijuana social consumption establishment" to the law prohibiting smoking in certain places, and exempts these establishments from that prohibition.
