Bill Summary
Relative to event data recorders in autonomous vehicles. Transportation.

This bill amends Chapter 90 of the General Laws to require that after a crash event involving an autonomous vehicle being operated or tested on a public way, no person shall knowingly destroy, corrupt, alter, or delete data on the vehicle's event data recorder or knowingly destroy or impair the event data recorder itself until law enforcement has had a reasonable opportunity to obtain a search warrant for evidence related to the crash event. A violation of this provision is punishable by a fine of up to $50,000 or imprisonment of up to 5 years in state prison or 2.5 years in jail or a house of correction, or both.
