This bill requires all health plans in Minnesota that provide maternity benefits to also cover medically necessary procedures related to infertility diagnosis and treatment, including ovulation induction, in vitro fertilization, and other techniques recognized by medical associations. The coverage requirements cannot have higher cost-sharing than the plan's maternity coverage. The bill defines infertility as a disease that interferes with an individual's ability to achieve a pregnancy or carry a pregnancy to term. This requirement does not apply to state-based health plans offered under Medicaid or MinnesotaCare.
