This bill, the PFAS Registry Act of 2019, directs the Department of Veterans Affairs to establish and maintain a registry for current or past members of the Armed Forces who may have been exposed to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) due to the environmental release of aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) at military installations or other Department of Defense locations. The registry will collect and maintain information on the health effects of PFAS exposure, and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs is required to submit reports to Congress on the effectiveness of actions taken, recommendations for improvement, and the most effective ways to address the medical needs of eligible individuals. The bill also requires the Secretary to periodically submit recommendations for additional chemicals and exposures to be included in the registry.
