This bill enacts sections of the Ohio Revised Code to prohibit certain health care professionals, such as advanced practice nurses, physicians, psychologists, counselors, and social workers, from engaging in "conversion therapy" when treating minor patients. Conversion therapy refers to efforts to change a person's sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. The bill provides exceptions for assisting a patient with transitioning, providing acceptance and support, preventing unlawful conduct, and counseling that does not seek to change a patient's sexual orientation. The state licensing boards overseeing these professionals are required to impose sanctions, such as suspension or revocation of licenses, for failure to comply with this prohibition.
