The bill specifies that conversion therapy does not include counseling that provides support and understanding or facilitates an individual's coping and identity exploration, as long as it does not aim to change sexual orientation. Any mental health professional who violates this prohibition on conversion therapy would be subject to disciplinary action and licensing sanctions. The bill takes effect 90 days after it is enacted into law.
