This bill amends the Mental Health Code to prohibit mental health professionals from engaging in "conversion therapy" with minors. Conversion therapy refers to any practices or treatments that seek to change an individual's sexual orientation or gender identity. The bill specifies that this does not include counseling that provides support, acceptance, or assistance with gender transition, or other non-discriminatory counseling services. Mental health professionals who violate this prohibition will be subject to disciplinary action and licensing sanctions. The bill takes effect 90 days after being enacted into law.
