This bill, the Hazard Eligibility and Local Projects Act, expands eligibility under certain hazard mitigation assistance programs to include acquisition or relocation projects that have already begun implementation. Specifically, it allows entities to receive assistance for covered projects, which are defined as projects that began implementation prior to grant award or that initiated planning or construction before or after requesting assistance, as long as they comply with all other program requirements. The bill covers the Predisaster Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, and the Flood Mitigation Assistance Program, and applies to funds appropriated on or after the date of enactment.
