AI Summary

This bill, the Providing Financial Assistance for Safe Drinking Water Act or the PFAS Drinking Water Act, requires the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to establish a program that awards grants to community water systems affected by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination. PFAS are man-made chemicals that may have adverse health effects and are found in various products. The grants will cover the capital costs associated with implementing treatment technologies that can remove all detectable amounts of PFAS from drinking water. The bill prioritizes funding for disadvantaged communities, those that can provide a cost-share, and those that demonstrate the capacity to maintain the treatment technology.
