This bill enacts the "Big Five African Trophies Act," which bans the importation, transportation, and possession of certain African wildlife species and their products, including the African Elephant, African Leopard, African Lion, Black Rhinoceros, White Rhinoceros, and African Giraffe. The bill provides exceptions for items located in the state prior to the effective date, those intended for museum collections, and those distributed to legal beneficiaries or heirs. It also authorizes law enforcement officers to seize any parts or products in violation of the law, and upon conviction, the seized items will be forfeited and either offered to educational or scientific institutions or destroyed.
