This bill amends the Medical Practice Act of 1985 to vest jurisdiction and authority in the State Board of Medicine over the practice of anesthesia in Pennsylvania, including anesthesia services provided in hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, and other health care facilities. The bill requires a physician to supervise the professional services rendered by nurse anesthetists in the Commonwealth. The bill also defines the qualifications required for non-anesthesiologist physicians to supervise anesthesia care and abrogates any inconsistent regulations promulgated by the Department of Health or the State Board of Nursing.
