This bill modifies the requirements for appraisers of Federal Housing Administration (FHA)-insured mortgages. It removes the requirement that appraisers be certified by certain national entities and instead allows appraisers for single-family housing mortgages to be state-licensed rather than state-certified. The bill also specifies that appraisers for single-family housing mortgages must complete a 7-hour training course on appraisal requirements approved by the Appraiser Qualifications Board or a state appraiser certifying and licensing agency. The bill provides a 180-day implementation period for the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to issue guidance to implement these changes.
