This bill, the Military Service Academy Foundation Act of 2019, allows the Secretaries of the military departments to provide limited support to service academy supporting foundations. The bill authorizes the Secretary to provide four types of support: (1) official participation of officers or Senior Executive Service employees in the foundations' charitable fundraising activities and membership drives, (2) endorsement of the foundations and their events/activities, (3) logistical support through the use of Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security facilities and equipment, and (4) authorization to use any trademarks and service marks owned or controlled by the Secretary. A "supporting foundation" is defined as a tax-exempt charitable organization that operates exclusively to support various aspects of a service academy, such as recruiting, academic programs, and institutional development.
