This bill, the Safe Cribs Act of 2019, makes it unlawful to manufacture, sell, or distribute crib bumpers. Crib bumpers are generally padded materials inserted around the inside of a crib to prevent the crib occupant from becoming trapped in any part of the crib's openings. The bill defines a crib bumper as any material intended to cover the sides of a crib to prevent injury or entrapment, including padded crib bumpers, supported and unsupported vinyl bumper guards, mesh crib liners, and vertical crib slat covers. A violation of this prohibition would be treated as a violation of the Consumer Product Safety Act.
