This bill, titled the TRANSLATE Act (TSA Reaching Across Nationalities, Societies, and Languages to Advance Traveler Education Act), directs the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to develop a plan to ensure that TSA materials disseminated in major airports can be better understood by a wider range of people, including foreign language speakers and individuals with vision or hearing impairments. The plan must identify the most common languages other than English used by travelers and airport workers, and outline strategies to improve the communication of TSA materials in those languages as well as for individuals with accessibility needs. The TSA is required to consider data on international enplanement and local populations surrounding major airports when developing the plan, and to implement the plan within 180 days of submitting it to Congress. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) is also tasked with reviewing the implementation of the plan within one year.
