This bill establishes a grant program at the Department of Agriculture to provide funding to public food service providers, tribal organizations, or private nonprofit entities engaged in food recovery activities. The grants can be used to purchase or lease vehicles and equipment for food recovery, reimburse travel costs related to food recovery, and cover the costs of preparing, storing, and transporting donated food. Eligible entities must have experience in food recovery and distribution, job training and business development in food-related activities, or reducing food insecurity in the community. The bill authorizes $10 million in funding for fiscal year 2020 to carry out this grant program.
