Bill Summary

To protect persons with intellectual or developmental disability from abuse

AI Summary

This bill creates a registry of care providers who have been found to have committed "registrable abuse" against persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The bill requires the Disabled Persons Protection Commission to establish and maintain this registry, and prohibits the Department of Developmental Services and other employers from hiring or retaining care providers whose names appear on the registry. The bill also provides a process for care providers to appeal their inclusion on the registry and to petition for removal from the registry after a certain period of time. Additionally, the bill requires the Commission to conduct annual audits of the registry and report on its findings.
