AI Summary

This bill expands the scope of practice for pharmacists in Florida. It allows pharmacists to: 1. Report certain public health information to the Department of Health under a protocol with a supervising physician or through a collaborative pharmacy practice agreement. 2. Initiate, modify, or discontinue drug therapy for chronic health conditions (such as arthritis, asthma, diabetes, etc.) under a collaborative pharmacy practice agreement with a supervising physician. 3. Test, screen, and treat minor, non-chronic health conditions (such as influenza, streptococcus, and skin conditions) under a written protocol with a supervising physician. The bill requires pharmacists to complete specific training and maintain liability coverage to provide these services. The bill also outlines the requirements and parameters for these collaborative agreements and protocols, including the need for pharmacists to maintain patient records and complete additional continuing education. The Board of Pharmacy is tasked with adopting rules to implement these new provisions in consultation with the Board of Medicine and Board of Osteopathic Medicine.
