This bill, the Healthy Meal Time Act of 2019, aims to amend the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act to require the Secretary of Agriculture to conduct a study on the time and duration of school lunch periods, as well as the timing of recess. The bill also directs the Secretary to establish a task force to review the study's findings and develop best practices to ensure student health and appropriate nutritional intake. The Secretary is then required to issue guidance based on these best practices to schools participating in the National School Lunch Program.
