Bill Summary
This bill makes communications between a bargaining agent and a municipal or state employee confidential in proceedings before the Maine Labor Relations Board to the same extent that such communications would be subject to the lawyer-client privilege under the Maine Rules of Evidence if the bargaining agent were a lawyer.
AI Summary
This bill makes communications between a bargaining agent (a representative of a labor union) and a state or municipal employee who is a member of the bargaining unit represented by that agent confidential to the same extent as communications between a lawyer and their client would be confidential under the Maine Rules of Evidence. This means the Maine Labor Relations Board cannot accept evidence regarding these communications during its proceedings, except in circumstances where such evidence would be admissible if the bargaining agent were a lawyer.
