This bill amends the Civil Service Law to provide equal pay for similar work protections for individuals belonging to "protected classes." These classes include age, race, creed, color, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, military status, sex, disability, predisposing genetic characteristics, familial status, marital status, or domestic violence victim status. The bill requires that employees within the same job title and establishment be paid at the same rate, regardless of their status within a protected class. It also clarifies that employees are considered to work in the same establishment if they work for the same employer at locations within the same geographic region, such as a county.
