This bill amends Alaska's laws to require the Board of Education and Early Development to develop guidelines for mental health instruction in public schools. The bill adds mental health to the existing list of health and personal safety topics that must be included in the state's health education program for grades K-12. The mental health guidelines must be developed in consultation with the Department of Health and Social Services and representatives of national and state mental health organizations. The bill also provides a two-year transition period for the Board to develop the required mental health guidelines.
